Humber Connected: Game Review!
Today's Blogger/Photographer is Mutahir!
Today I was lucky to be behind the scenes on the show “Game Review!” produced by Rob Esposito. This show focuses on video games, accessories and peripherals. The show content is divided into three segments consisting of reviews and even including a trivia show where guests have a chance to win top-tier gaming equipment!
Sitting behind the scenes I was able to witness the hard work that goes into producing a show but then I saw the amount of work being put forth by all members of the team and the many crew members involved. I saw how all individuals whether they were working on graphics, audio, Teleprompters or operating the cameras on set were each pulling their weights and offering collective suggestions which aided greatly during the rehearsal phase and I was able to see some really great collaboration between everyone on the team. Matt who was working as a director on the show was running everywhere and speaking to everyone to constantly double check if they knew what they were doing to make sure everything ran as smoothly as it could while being open to suggestions from other members of the team giving their view off what could make the show better. The show was rehearsed once and some segments were changed to allow for reallocations in time which was heavily discussed so the show could meet its fifteen minute deadline.
In the end I witnessed a lot on the production and noticed the amount of hard work and effort required by everyone and how they must all bring their a-game because once the shoot starts there is little margin of error as everything at that point is recorded and must be sent off. Once the broadcast started the diligence of not only Matt but everyone on the floor and control room was showing heavily and everyone knew there was little margin of error which was shown even more on Rob’s face as he was avidly watching the monitor to see if his show would meet his vision. Fortunately because of the rehearsals and proper planning of the producer and director as well as the correspondence with all members of the crew everyone knew what they were doing and this all led to a perfectly timed show that was a blast to watch. I learned through all of this that producing and directing a show can be quite hectic as shown on the set when almost everyone was conversing with one another about each facet of the show but if done right can lead to an enjoyable show that not only is fun to watch but also fun to take a part in its production. This is my experience behind the scenes of the show “Game Review!”
