Tuesdays Humber connected show was definitely a challenging one, with a set up that the students had not met before. The pre show preparation went off without a hitch; the hosts were fitted with wireless microphones and for the first time, IFBs. A few of the students were nervous in their positions due to the fact that they had not had the chance to practice them before hand, but their worries soon melted away as we went through the run-through.
There were a few hiccups in the run through and some confusion with the audio but it was all settled after a while. The hosts were presenting a fashion show, with Anthon and Keasha as hosts we were allowed to hear from them and their thoughts on various outfits that were presented for this year. James had a little bit of anxiety about his directing job and had a difficult task of directing the Humber Connected’s first trucking shot.
Of course, not every television show can be perfect and we had a few difficulties during the filming of it. There were a few times when the proper graphics were not shown and the audio had been muted on the PC for a little while and therefore we did not have it during the beginning of the show. Despite the fact that there was a little confusion and some mix ups, the shows run time was almost perfect and it was presented well by both hosts who obviously knew a lot more about fashion than the rest of us.
Thanks to the challenging aspect of the show, how it was set up with the hosts standing and the trucking shot, alot of the students left the studio that day with a little more knowledge than they had going in. Even with the few problems we had, everyone learned, grew, and now know something they did not before, therefore making themselves even more skilled in the broadcast field.
