Humber Connected: On My Mind
(Originally broadcast February 28, 2011)

In todays blog edition of Humber Studio Production, we get the opportunity to witness the production skills of Andrew Sullivan and the Directing abilities of Andrew Wood. There are two totally different atmospheres in the 3 rooms. The production studio is led by its director Woody, who has his game face on. When Andrew is in game mode, then be prepared buckle down and deliver a show. The audio room is a different tone as familiar friends are a little more relaxed in their approach, while still concentrating on the task at hand. The on air studio tone is the most free jubilant flowing room in the studio. This room is led by the high energy and very comical team of Brian and Rob. As I make my way around the room I get the chance to witness the next generation in great television productions. Practice session number one, is the very first opportunity for the entire cast to get a glimpse at the detailed production style of Andrew Sullivan. They do a good job at maneuvering through the complex but entertaining script. Woody is able to learn from each practice session on what works and what doesn’t while bringing the production to a new level. I enjoy watching the mild mistakes as much as the moments of perfection on this set, simply because the hosts make it so entertaining. The camera team of Matt, Jason and Giovanni are a confident and talented group of workers. It is not a hard task when you have an excellent floor manager in the form of Kat to navigate the team through the various turns and roadblocks. Phil is this editions assigned on-camera expert. He is quite convincing in his role as he makes his way through some very technical medical terms that would sound alien to the average person. Brent is TD for this production and quite frankly is one of the best go to people to ensure a successful production. Joe has been tasked with the job of shader, which is why we are able to witness perfect colour balance. Matt and Ray both have the equally challenging jobs of teleprompt and graphics, all the while making it look easy. The audio studio is in great hands as Mike has the challenging position of A1 and Devin as A2. These guys make work look fun. As the actual production moves forward, for every little hiccup in the production, there is a quick moment of coverage. It is not an easy task to deliver such a detailed and creative project, but Woody leads his team to the promise land with a good BRTV Studio production.
Keep up the good work guys.
