Humber Connected: Gender Differences
(Originally broadcast February 7th, 2011)
Today's House Blogger was Devin Goddard!
This session starts with me looking at the list of jobs to
see what my duties will include for the next production.
Oh sweet!
It would appear that I will be blogging the events about to take place. I don’t quite know how to blog or what is expected so I just continue to take notes on what everyone is doing on their phone. It quickly comes to my attention that Matt P is on photography duty. For this next production he will be a fellow blogger.
Looking around before things got serious and settled I see our class doing their usual goofy things, I see Skittles being passed around, Brent pretending to shave his unmentionables with the soon to be revealed “Mach 20”, Matt is all up in peoples faces taking pictures. Good times ahead!
Eventually everyone makes their way to their positions. I’m hanging out in the Audio booth bugging Tony for quotes for the blog. Karen walks in and asks if he knows what he is doing. He replies, “yes.” Something that I will later use to make fun of him as his audio is all over the place. He did eventually get it so I’ll shut up now.
Kayla and Joe are hosting, a cute couple. Matt and I make them hug for the blog. Awe. I am quite interested to see how this next show turns out. “Gender Differences” sounds like it could lead to some heated debate.
The rehearsal begins. After the dreadful bars/tone we hear the soothing sounds of a few chords coming from a Ukulele. We are all now quite familiar with this song and find it gets stuck in ones head quite easily. It is the perfect song to get you in the mood for a solid production.
Little bumps to work out during rehearsal (which was to be expected!). Some mics coming in late, too much head room on some camera shots, hardly any switching cameras, etc. But everyone loved the surprise video commercial featuring Joe testing out the Mach 20. At least they made it to the end. Giovanni, producer extraordinaire is looking like he’s getting stressed. Uh oh. Time for the real deal!
The final was a success. The comedic bantering between the two hosts flowed nicely. The director and technical director were switching up the camera appropriately and the audio was all nicely leveled and came in at the right times.
The Uke kicks in and we all now know the production is over. What a nice tune to end a nice production on. I can’t wait to see what is in store for us next week. Ugh, I have to direct! Wish me luck!
